Heli-skiing works like this...

Confirmation
Early in the morning we check the weather, then we contact you to confirm the heli-ski trip is on, and to set a pickup time.

Pick-up
We pick you up at your accommodation and drive you to the staging area, where you're introduced to your pilot, guide and fellow heli-skiers.

Safety briefing & first heli-ski
A safety briefing is given covering avalanche transceivers, helicopter and mountain safety. Then you fly off to the day's first heli-ski run.

Alpine lunch
All heli-ski groups meet together for an alpine buffet lunch and some downtime to relax and talk about the morning's action.

After that, it's back to the ultimate ski experience - more heli-ski runs to finish off your perfect day in the mountains.
At the end of the day, we drive you from the staging area back to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest or a quick change before your après ski evening in Queenstown or Wanaka.

Area Description
Dominating the skyline from Queenstown, Cecil Peak holds a secret – on the south side of the mountain is stash of steep shady slopes that love a southerly storm. Dramatic with incredible lake views a days’ heli-skiing on Cecil Peak is a treat.

South Harris Mountains
Area Description
When a cold southerly has hit the Queenstown region the South Harris Mountains are the place to be. Flying north form Coronet Peak you quickly leave the ski area behind and enter some of the most user friendly terrain HMH has. Perfect for first time heli-skiers the South Harris region has been a stepping stone for many of valued repeat clients.

Central Harris Mountains
Area Description
The Central Harris Mountains get snow from both the south and the west meaning there is always lick of fresh paint here. Well sheltered from the prevailing winds the Central Harris holds snow quality when other areas have been affected – beautiful wide open slopes make for some of the best heli cruising!

Tyndall Glaciers
Area Description
The Tyndall Glacier region is the jewel in the crown of our Wanaka terrain. Situated within Mt Aspiring National Park the region features long, glaciated runs set against the stunning back drop of Mt Aspiring. Our longest run in the region, Headlong Spur is just over 1200m of vertical drop from a landing at 8000ft – that’s a lot of turns. In spring, the north facing slopes of the Isobel Glacier provide epic corn skiing.

North Harris Mountains
Area Description
Where it all began… the beating heart of HMH. The North Harris are a go-to option for consistent powder piggery. The big faces of Fog and Cragroysten Peaks dominate the region but there are plenty of sheltered stashes to choose from here.
Favourite Run: Holy Moses Chutes on Cragrosysten Peak
North Buchanans
Area Description
Renowned for the quality of its snow, this range is tucked to the lee side of the main peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park – result, often the best snow in the region. From the steeps of Dragon’s Head to the wide open slopes of A Trails the ‘North Buchs’ provide consistent skiing from go to whoa.

South Buchanans
Area Description
The ‘South Buchs’ might take a little time to fill in with snow but come the end of the season it’s here you’ll find us hitting the immaculate corn with the lake backdrop providing a jaw dropping view. In the meantime the steep south facing chutes of Mt Alta keep expert groups fully engaged.

Remarkables Range
Area Description
South from the ski area is a ski playground with terrain to suit all tastes. From the tight chutes of Huge to the open cruising of the Bears Ears there something for all here. Fantastic Lake and Mountain views.

Mount Aspiring
Neumann Range
Area Description
On the way to Mt Cook many of our charter groups have been loving exploring the seldom skied Neumann Range. Long, mainly west-facing runs dominate this remote corner – to the north the high peaks of Mount Cook National Park – to the south the blue waters of Lake Ohau, just a stunning place to be and numerous first descents still to be completed.

Area Description
Skied in partnership with our colleagues at Mt Cook Heli-ski these ranges offer a truly spectacular experience. With views over the Murchison and Tasman glaciers this is the big country.
