2017 was a season of frequent snowfall - and few lengthy fine spells! With a predominate light easterly weather flow, the bulk of our snow pack fell unwind-affected and cold - making for some epic powder conditions from mid-July through to the end of August. Despite the lower than average number of perfect bluebird days, the quality of the snow we received more than made up for it.

As always, we welcomed back many returning guests who enjoyed exploring new terrain in the Neumann and Southern Ben Ohau ranges between Wanaka and Mt Cook. Our partnership arrangement with Mount Cook Heli-ski continues to flourish. Many guests revelled in the conditions in the Mt Cook region as the easterly storm patterns continued to dump snow throughout the eastern ranges.

Back in Queenstown, we continue to explore the exciting potential of the Glenorchy region and our partnership with Glenorchy Helicopters is providing a great local experience for our Queenstown based guests.

We had some excellent spring conditions throughout September - punctuated by some epic snowfalls. On September 11th, we were catapulted back into the depths of winter with a 60cm dump of cold dry goodness, our biggest single dump of the season!

For the latter part of the spring, we have seen guests taking advantage of our Spring Special pricing and lapping up some of the epic corn skiing that a helicopter provides such unique access to. The helicopters let us follow the sun around through the day as spring snow softens to perfection. One of the many absolute joys of spring Heli-skiing!

2017 also saw the successful launch of our first women's ski package, with the ladies taking advantage of our spa and heli-ski combo package run with Oakridge resort. We expect to see more people taking advantage of this unique offer in 2018.

Some famous Australians had a crack at heli-skiing this year. Surf icon Barton Lynch, musician Tom Tilley and rapper Bliss from Bliss’n’Eso managed to arrive on time for perfect conditions and they all had a blast!
