One month in, two more to come - Our July Highlights 2019
30/07/2019 1:29pm

We are four weeks into our heli-skiing season 2019 and it’s fair to say that this year’s winter took a slow start compared to 2018. Mild temperatures and little precipitation made it look like there was not much skiing going on in the Southern Alps. But: We’re at Harris Mountains Heli-Ski are lucky to have a huge variety of terrain to choose from and some of it is so high that we managed to have amazing days of powder skiing. Check out our video from earlier this month, it doesn’t get much better than this!

Guides’ training

Before we took the first guests into the mountains, our guides had their annual safety training. New chief guide Mike Madden made sure that everyone is up to speed regarding the newest trends in Alpine Safety. As always the focus lied on intensive training but there was plenty of time for the team to catch up and have a great time in the mountains!

Front desk back in full hum

Our customer service teams in Wanaka and Queenstown are back at their front desks and regular clients will be pleased to see some familiar faces. At the new Queenstown check-in counter Chris, Lara and Maddy are looking after our clients, in Wanaka Broni is back at the desk and greets customers with her distinctive smile.

Last season we introduced our 4-package structure and we will continue offering 3-run, 4-run, 7-run and 10-run days this year. For those seeking some extra heli-time and a tailor-made skiing experience, our Private Charters are the perfect option.

We also offer heli-skiing at Mount Cook in cooperation with Mount Cook Heli-ski.

Lucky winners

We already had some lucky winners this season: Queenstown local Sophie Piearcey won a 4-run heli-ski day in our early season raffle. During our annual industry night local hoteliers from the Matukituki Lodge and Edgewater took away a heli-skiing day and a cruise-fly-cruise to Milford Sound provided by our sister company Mitre Peak. Our industry night is a great way to do some networking with the local ski industry and as always our manager Hugh was the perfect master of ceremony.

Coming up

We’re expecting fresh snow and lower temperatures this week, followed by some great days of heli-skiing. August is usually our busiest time of the year and we’re looking forward to welcoming back regular and new clients.

Watch out for the chance of winning a heli-skiing weekend in our high season photo competition that is coming up soon. If you’re not lucky enough to win, there’s always the option of contacting our friendly sales team and book your heli-skiing adventure 2019!
