Amazing edit put together by filmer Tim Pierce, of The North Face skiers – Janina Kuzma, Fraser McDougall and Mitchy Greig - ripping some incredible lines on Mount Tyndall with us last week.
Read Tim’s summary of their awesome day filming, shooting and skiing sick lines below and check out the footage!
“The North Face NZ Team jump in a heli and go for a spin in the high country outside of Wanaka hoping to ski the southeast face of Mt Tyndall. After a brief 8am rendezvous at the Harris Mountain Heli office in town and a quick hit of caffeine, the team load up the chopper and fly into the upper Matukituki Valley, lifting up and heading deep into the surrounding mountains. With a solid snow pack, minimal risk of avalanches and a fresh cover of white fluffy stuff, they pick off lines from the heli like kids in candy store. Mt Aspiring and Rob Roy Glacier set the backdrop as the team hover above wild unskied faces pointing their fingers at where they’d like to go, the chopper banks and moments later they’re standing on top waiting to drop.”

Last week The North Face crew, including Wanaka and Queenstown big mountain pro skiers Janina Kuzma, Fraser McDougall and Mitchy Greig joined us, along with amazing filmer Tim Pierce and photographer extraordinaire Camilla Stoddart. It was a truly epic day – great snow, perfect stability letting us into the steeps and beautiful sunshine.

Following on from yesterday’s blog update tracking Kiwi pro skier Sam Smoothy and Queenstown photographer Miles Holden’s heli skiing adventure in the North Buchanan’s, here is the second instalment of photos from the day. Moody skies, some seriously dramatic Southern Alps landscapes and epic powder turns were enjoyed by all!

NZ snowboarder Jake Koia and the Red Bull film crew joined us on 9 July to film a segment for the Red Bull Chronicles. We headed out from Wanaka into the epic Mount Aspiring National Park to find blue skies, sunshine, big mountains and boot deep untracked snow. Great early season action!
Our guides and pilots have many years of experience working with film crews and pro riders, taking them into some of the best terrain New Zealand has to offer. Check out the film shoot info on our website for more details.
